Sugee (also known as semolina) cake is a popular cake in Malaysia and Singapore. Sugee cake has its origins among people of Eurasians and Asian ancestry. Sugee cake is made up of semolina, wheat flour and almonds. Hence, you will taste both the fragrance of the almonds and the crunch for extra texture in this cake.

Citrus also goes well with this cake. Some lemon zest or mix peels can brighten up the flavour of the cake. This cake is light and fluffy, and will definitely be a crowd pleaser!

Instructions

What you need:

  • 300g butter
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 3 tbsp brandy (optional)
  • 100ml milk

Instructions:

  1. Beat softened butter with sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one by one and beat well.
  3. Add in vanilla essence, sugee, almond, and brandy.
  4. Sieve in premix flour with milk in portions.
  5. Bake in 8″ cake tray for 50 mins in 180°C.
