Steamed bun premix recipe is a guaranteed favourite. It is a versatile staple in Asian cuisine for both savoury and sweet fillings. It is so good you can even eat it on its own! Our recipe makes for a fluffy texture, best enjoyed freshly steamed. It also comes with a variation of sweet potato bun. You can have a play with colours in adding red or purple sweet potato. Colourful buns are a proof to attract picky little eaters to eat!
Instructions
What you need:
- 50g Shortening (or 50g butter / 2 tbsp oil)
- 1 tsp Instant dried yeast
- 250ml Water
- (300g mashed sweet potato)
Instructions:
- Add all ingredients and knead into a smooth dough.
- Cover and leave aside to rise for 1 hour or until double in size.
- Shape the dough into desired shapes.
- Cover and leave to rise again for 30 minutes.
- Steam buns for 20 minutes.
